On August 9th, we headed out on a fire assessment field trip with a group of USFS personnel and others. Our Tribal Chair made sure to include one of our Tribal Youth, so they could see firsthand the impact of fire on the land and learn about the cultural resource sites touched by the flames. It was a long day, but every step was a lesson in how our history and the land are intertwined, even in the aftermath of fire.
